A new Day 1-1-11

A new day has come which we will write as 1-1-11 no matter you are a DD/MM/YY or MM/DD/YY follower.Living in the South pacific, closer to the international date line has an advantage of being one among few million people on earth to welcome the new year before the rest of the world.

Except for the fact that we follow a calendar which has only 12 months and all the 12 months of this cycle are over and we are restarting the cycle, I hardly see any specialty about Jan 1st ( midnight of Dec31 st).May be because I am one among those few billion people who have seen transition of a Millennium in my life time, this change of year is sometime I am feeling as a common thing happening every 365 days.

I am seeing in TV today about hundreds of thousands of tourists flocking and trying to get a prime spot to get the spectacular view of the firework show at the Harbour Bridge, Thousands of people gathered at Time Square in the west and Dataran Merdeka in the east and any other important spots of all cities and towns around the world to welcome this transition. As usual this celebrations are infectious habits where one tend to follow others with no reasons for him/her to do so.

Despite all these, it was really a good scene to see everyone is enjoying in their own way, greeting each other, so much of bon homie spreading everywhere to welcome this moment.

I am wondering how good it will be if we greet each other " Happy new Day!!" by welcoming and celebrating each new day we get instead of waiting for 365 days. I was waiting to see which highly important document is going to be blessed to have my first signature of 2011-nothing special happened - I ended up as usual to sign my coffee bill handed over by my cheerful workmate.
